Jermaine Jackson Announces “Tribute 2009″ Concert For Michael Jackson

Jermaine Jackson, brother of late singer Michael Jackson, tells Larry King that at times, he talks to the sky and says, “I miss you.” He adds that while there are no finalized decision for Michael’s resting place, he prefers his brother being buried at Neverland, but there is a security concern.

Jermaine also says the kids are doing fine, and Paris summed it up nicely at the memorial: “He’s a wonderful father… She said it all.”

In addition, of some media entities, he says he personally “hates that Jacko crap, they need to stop that”. Jermaine also tells King that he learned from “you guys” – CNN, specifically – about his brother’s being admitted to the hospital.

At the end of the show, Larry’s wife Shawn joins Jermaine to make a “surprise announcement” that they will be organizing a tribute concert to Michael in September, which Shawn says will be full of “surprises.” For more information at tribute2009.com. WHAT KILLED Michael Jackson?

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office knows. But it’s not telling.

The coroner’s office said yesterday that police have asked for the cause and manner of Michael’s death to remain sealed while detectives investigate events leading up to his death.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter declined to comment on when the results might be released and said his office would not respond to questions about it.

* Vienna’s majestic 14th-century Schoenbrunn Palace, once home to Emperor Franz Joseph, will serve as the backdrop for what organizers billed yesterday as a “global” farewell tribute to Michael next month.

World Awards Media GmbH, the promoter, said members of Michael’s family and a “high-profile lineup of international stars” will perform on a multimedia stage built in the shape of a giant crown on the palace grounds. Forget Wiener schnitzel. Austria will now be famous for cheese.

“For one incredible night Michael Jackson’s unforgettable music will be brought to life again,” World Awards Media said on its Web site. “Some of the world’s leading artists will perform Michael’s greatest hits live in Vienna in front of one of the most fascinating historical sites in Europe and celebrate the life of the ‘King of Pop.’ “

Jermaine Jackson said recently that Vienna was special for Michael, who “loved castles.” Tickets go on sale Aug. 20. The palace has enough standing room to accommodate 85,000 people. The daily Oesterreich said giant screens would be set up in parks around Vienna to handle the expected overflow.

* As for Michael’s movie . . .

Very busy L.A. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff yesterday approved a Friday deal among Michael’s estate, promoter AEG Live and Columbia Pictures. A proposed contract states that the movie will feature footage of Michael’s final rehearsals for his planned series of London concerts. The film could also include videos prepared for display during the shows.

AEG Live has said it has more than 100 hours of footage, which would make for one very long movie – but imagine the DVD extras.

Under the terms of the proposed contract, the film will have to be screened for Michael’s estate and cannot include any footage that puts him in a bad light.

Columbia Pictures paid $60 million for rights to the film, and Michael’s estate is slated to receive 90 percent of its profits.

Yeah, but they’re movie “profits,” so the film will have to gross around a trillion dollars.

From Sydney to Hong Kong, China to Los Angeles, fans spoke of their shock and sadness. His music echoed from cafes and car speakers, and everyone from national leaders on down seemed to weigh in.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez called the stars death lamentable news, though he criticized the media for giving it so much attention. Former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, who had met Mr. Jackson, said: We lost a hero of the world.

In Paris, fans planned a memorial moonwalk at the Eiffel Tower for Sunday, and a ceremony in his honor to be held at the 13th-century Notre Dame cathedral Friday night.

Fans lit candles at a spontaneous gathering in Hong Kong, while in the Philippines, a dance tribute was planned for a prison in Cebu, where Byron Garcia, a security consultant, had 1,500 inmates join in a synchronized dance to the Thriller video.

My heart is heavy because my idol died, he said.Online, the traffic was so thick with people sharing news of his death that the microblogging service Twitter crashed, and even Google, the search giant, believed it may have been under service attack, the BBC reported.

The former Philippine first lady, Imelda Marcos, said she cried on hearing the news.

Michael Jackson enriched our lives, made us happy, she said in a statement. The accusations, the persecution caused him so much financial and mental anguish. He was vindicated in court, but the battle took his life. Fellow singer Celine Dion said in a statement, I am shocked. I am overwhelmed by this tragedy. Michael Jackson has been an idol for me all my life.

Mr. Jackson had been scheduled to begin a comeback tour in London next month, and fans there gathered to mourn. Ben Bradshaw, the culture secretary, issued a statement to announce his grief in which he said he was a long-time fan of Michael Jackson and had Billie Jean played as the first dance at his civil partnership, the Guardian reported.

Bands playing at the open-air Glastonbury Festival this weekend were expected to pay homage to Jacksons musical achievements, and a tribute show featuring Mr. Jacksons songs, Thriller Live, was to go forward as planned on Londons West End.
